Ok, I see! Thank you!
I was under the impression that if I downloaded from iCloud to a Mac formatted EHD, I would then be able to open see those photos on my PC using MacDrive. Now that it’s formatted as HFS+ my PC is recognizing it but all the photos are 0 bytes. The folder structure is all there, but no photos. On my Mac I can see them, even after I log out of the client’s temporary user account and use my login.
That’s a good tip about the ethernet. Thank you!
Thanks, Adam! Attempting this again with HFS+ formatting.
I’m curious about you saying 8 hours doesn’t seem like enough time to download a Photos library. This library has about 14,000 photos. Wouldn’t the download time depend on the size of the library. Or is 8+ hours the norm no matter how big/small the library is?
Also, once you see that progress bar at the bottom get all the way across and there are visibly no more originals being downloaded, is it not safe to eject your drive yet? That’s what I did the first time. Don’t want to make the same mistake again – but I’m not even sure how I messed that part up!

Thank you, Adam! So, do you see the best way for them to experience the videos being to access them via a thumbdrive, if iCloud isn’t the ultimate solution? Storing it on their computer seems impractical since the files are so large.
Have you ever encouraged a client to use a platform like YouTube or Vimeo to store these types of videos and easily share with other family members?
Since I’m not an Apple person, may I also ask what the limitation is with experiencing these in iCloud?
