I have been happily taking photographs since 1998, when an intro to photography through a nice point and shoot camera quickly led to purchase of a Canon Rebel SLR camera. In 2020, I struggled to cobble together my own digital archive of almost 20 years from various old hard drives, mini-CD-ROMs, and cloud storage. I wanted to be able to find the photos I was looking for. About the same time I began digitizing and sharing old family Super 8mm films, VHS, and Hi8 recordings, and realized the joy that people get from being able to experience these memories. I was hooked. This led to a comprehensive 40th birthday gift for my wife, culling through more than a dozen old family albums and my own collections to pull out images from every year of her life. Mix into that the story of digitizing an old Super 8mm film for my neighbor, and her telling me about sharing the movie and hearing that it was the first time her cousin had seen moving images of her dad, who died when she was very young. Now I am hooked and will do whatever it takes to learn how to help other people discover the joy they can get from having an organized, digitized, searchable family album. I am currently working on finishing my own collection of digital images, helping family and friends to gain more experience in managing their own images, gaining more training through the resources here and elsewhere, and completing the Photo Managers Certification process. I don't yet have a name for my business.
